Lenten Meditation Concert

Abendmusik: Sacred Vocal Chamber Works of Dietrich Buxtehude: First Congregational Church & American Center of Church Music. Directed by U-M music professor Joseph Gascho, using period instruments, students from the U-M Baroque Chamber Ensembles perform Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri, which is cited as perhaps the first Lutheran oratorio, a cycle of seven cantatas, each a meditation on the “holy limbs of our suffering Jesus.” Also, First Congregational Church Organist Tim Huth plays solo organ works, and Gascho plays solo harpsichord works by Buxtehude. 5 p.m., First Congregational Church, 608 E.
