I will live today with passion and hope.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 27

Reflection:

I am sure you, like I, have been thinking a great deal about life and purpose these past weeks of the Stay at Home order.  In so many conversations, I have heard people talking about what they are going to do after the quarantine has been lifted and/or about the changes they wish to make in their personal lives.  One person said, “I want to be more proactive.”

It is here I find comfort in the affirmation that comes from Psalm 27:1, reminding me that I can face the future with faith and hope, knowing God is always there with me…that I don’t need to be timid about moving forward.

There is a poem by Jack London I like a great deal.  I think it speaks to living life fully and abundantly with faith and courage.  I would like to share it with you today:

I would rather be ashes than dust!

I would rather my sparks should burn out in a blaze

Than it should be stifled by dry rot.

I would rather be a superb meteor,

Every atom of me in magnificent glow.

Than an asleep and permanent planet.

The proper function of humankind is to live, not to exist.

I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.

I shall use my time.

Surrounded by the steadfast love and presence of God, I hope your day today is filled with goodness and good cheer.

Prayer:

God, I ask you to be with me today in such a way that I am able to live today fully, abundantly, faithfully, and courageously.  Amen.

Focus for the Day:

I will live today with passion and hope.
