“God, give me the insight to understand that to live in the Spirit is to be a part of all that is.”    ~ Joan Chittister

Text:  “I have given them the glory you gave me that they may be one, as we are one – I in them, you in me – that they may be made perfect in unity.”

Scripture:  John 17:22-23

Reflection:

In this time after Easter, alive with the living Christ, we are graced with His presence among us and within us as we struggle through this pandemic that, unfortunately seems to be taking on a sense of normalcy.  I’m not sure what to make of that. How will this new world look? A lot different than the Heaven-on-earth spiel we often hear? Yes?! No?! I don’t know. Maybe now is more Heaven-on earth than before the pandemic. Since we have been universally under threat, we seem to be more readily able to come together and set differences aside with the things that don’t really matter to our existence as human beings.  We have become more willing to move forward as one nation, one world, seeking to make the basic needs of a safe and healthy life available to all of earth’s people. It is in this working together, this actively participating in this one life, this one world, equally, that is going to allow us to live perfect in unity, perfectly in our Heaven-on-earth.

Prayer:

Gracious and ever loving God, thank You for the love and the light which is Your son, Jesus Christ. May we all, as individuals, first seek to be one with You, as You are one with Christ. Help us to step out of our comfort zone of what is familiar. Open our minds and our hearts to the love, grace and compassion that comes from a life lived in Christ. May we all feel the glory of that which is You as we seek to evolve and live our days in the light. Be ever-present with us as we grow and change into the Heavenly beings that You know we can be. Thank you for our Heaven-on-earth. Amen.
