Text:

“I will not leave you desolate; I will come to you…In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you…”These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Scripture:

John 14:18-27

Reflection:

I am delighting in the forced ‘be alone and stay home’ orders. Even though I absolutely thrive on social interactions, I could not enjoy them, as much as I do, without proper personal, mental and spiritual conditioning. Usually, because I choose to live a full and very active life, my meditation/prayer time is often a quick, grab some God and go. Other times, even when busy, I find myself going through the motions, but having a conversation, or rather an awareness of presence, a God is with me moment. This is the state of spirit I strive to be in all the time. We’re like nesting dolls. I have the Holy Spirit within me. The Holy Spirit (to me) is that flame, that light which is Jesus. And Jesus is in God. All one big happy family! In this family there is no room to be troubled or afraid; only at peace.

Prayer:

Blessed Holy Spirit, be a welcome presence in us today. We are grateful for the opportunity to spend precious time alone, reflecting on our joys and the peace that is found in living our lives as Jesus showed us how to live. Reassure us that our hearts need not be troubled, or afraid. Guide us to understand that our alone time, with You, can be the perfect opportunity to refill our love and kindness cups to overflowing, making us perfect channels of your love and grace. Amen.

Focus for the Day:  I am never desolate; God is with me and in me. I am at peace. Praise God!
